Reducing the Social Conflicts (Ethnic, Religion, Race, and Inter-Community) through Pluralist Multicultural Education.

Abstract: The history of Indonesian nation could not separate from social conflict, especially conflict of ethnic, race, religion, and inter-community. It proceeds from the existence of multi-ethnic by different cultural social background, economic, and requirement. It was started from old order decade until now. Moreover in reformation era, noticed over of freedom in many democratization in sector of life. The existence of localism is a directly effect from application of region autonomy, it caused social conflict more lively. Like as discrimination of Tionghoa ethnic, Tragedi Mei, conflict between Muslim and Christian. This condition will give bad effect for security and defense of Indonesian country; low of welfare society and high of discrepancy and low of law supremacy. All give impact unconvinced toward law supremacy in Indonesia. This paper suggested concept pluralist multicultural education as a part solution together with security approach. Because the role of education is as a media to develop human potential could not be changed. Concept of pluralist multicultural education is a concept to understand the differences that exist in society, how it could accept as something naturally and it does not make discrimination as an impact from behavior plan and value of life which is shows in jealous, envy, and bad thinking. For Indonesian context, this concept have strategic role to manage the diversity creatively.
